Who we are
Mako Plastics, an injection plastic molder, operates a modern factory/warehouse in Vaughan, Ontario Canada supplying quality plastic components to the North American office furniture market.
Working within this market; we noticed a lack of true variety and style in desk top accessories offerings and very little sensitivity to the environment. Up until now, most manufacturing gave only secondary attention to the eco-market and offer recycled plastic products as a means to lower production costs not to conserve the environment.
All other products available are made with virgin plastic or recycled plastics using re-grind and or post-consumer waste which eventually end up in landfills and are not compostable.
It was then Mako decided to start creating and manufacturing its own unique line. Carta.
To that end, all Mako Collection Carta products are made of PLA material. PLA or biopolymer is a natural plastic made from plants not oil and is a 100% renewable resource.
All Carta products are compostable.
What we do
Our strategy is to focus 100% of our efforts on the market for eco-friendly manufacturing and product development. By focusing all of our efforts and energy on this particular niche, we expect to quickly develop and maintain a leadership position. We believe that our singular focus will give us significant advantages.
Mako continues to develop and introduce new Carta products helping consumers make smart choices, work better while enjoying our unique style.

Mako Carta desk products are targeted and priced to appeal to environmentally conscious buyers who are looking for coordinated up-scale desk items at mid-market pricing.
How we do it
Mako has partnered with Natureworks LLC., a global leader in bio-polymer material manufacturing. All Mako Collection products are made of 100% Ingeo PLA material. Offering greater disposal options and is more environmentally friendly to manufacture than traditional petroleum-based plastics. Derived from 100% annually renewable resources such as plants. Our products made with Ingeo™ natural plastic, made from NatureWorks’ biopolymer, is the world’s first polymer showing a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
